The cost of pharmaceuticals
is a major contributor to the dramatic escalation in the cost of
health care in the United States. In response to growing concern
that the cost of pharmaceuticals has outpaced the ability of many
citizens to afford appropriate care, the United States Congress enacted
Section 340B of the Public Health Services Act (PHSA) in 1992. This
legislation was enacted to provide medically and financially vulnerable
populations greater access to medication by offering steep discounts
for pharmaceuticals to covered entities.
AmeriChoice is an industry
leader in consulting services that show clients how to maximize
their pharmaceutical savings. The net effect is that we can help
clients save money and improve the health and safety of patients
in a cost-effective manner. The AmeriChoice Strategic Health Care
Consulting Team has worked collaboratively with a large philanthropic
organization to assess current pharmacy cost containment systems;
develop and submit 340B program applications; develop and implement
340B programs; and implement reporting and monitoring strategies
to ensure achievement of cost savings goals. |
